WE NEVER NOTICE THE BRIDGES, THAT'S UNTIL WE LEAVE, THEN WE EITHER CROSS THEM OR BURN THEM!
As a lad I jumped from the Townhead Bridge and even swam in the canal-it was clean then!
HILLHEAD BRIDGE
From a swivel to a swing - now raised and fixed
across the main road to Hillhead.
NEW LINK ROAD BRIDGE
This carries the New Lairdsland Road from the
Kilsyth Road at the old Black Bull up to the new
roundabout at Townhead.
TOWNHEAD BRIDGE
This swivel bridge carried the Cowgate. When the
canal was closed in 1963 it was made into a
narrow culvert, stopping flow but now reopened.

A Bridge across the canal where the stables for the
boat-pulling horses were kept. Recently it has been restructered to allow the boats to pass through it.

The Hungeryside Bridge spanned the Canal taking
the road from Torrance Roundabout to Torrance.
CAWDER BRIDGE
Built origionally to get to the estate but now to tak players over to the Cawder Golf Course, the few houses and the farmland.
